The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached immovable and movable assets worth approximately ₹1.32 crore belonging to Karnataka Congress MLA KY Nanjegowda and others in connection with alleged irregularities in the appointment of staff in the Kolar-Chikkaballapur District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Ltd (KOMUL).

“The Bengaluru Zonal Office has provisionally attached immovable and moveable properties of KY Nanjegowda and others worth Rs. 1.32 Crore (approx.) on 16.07.2025 in a money laundering case related to KOMUL recruitment scam, 2023,” the agency said in a statement on X, on Thursday, 17 July.

The development follows a series of raids conducted by ED officials on 8 January this year at multiple locations linked to Nanjegowda, including his residence and properties associated with him in Malur and Kolar.

The 61-year-old Congressman represents the Malur Assembly constituency in Kolar district and is also the President of KOMUL.

According to official sources, the ED initiated its probe based on local police First Information Reports (FIRs) that alleged irregularities in the recruitment of staff at KOMUL.

The central agency is examining suspected financial transactions and fund diversions believed to be proceeds of the recruitment scam.

On the day of the raids, searches were also conducted at KOMUL’s office and dairy plant in Kolar, the sources added.

KOMUL is the second largest milk-producing cooperative in Karnataka.

Its operational area spans Kolar and Chikkaballapur districts, covering 2,919 villages across 11 revenue taluks, according to information available on its official website.
