A coach of a train caught fire at the shunting yard of the Tirupati Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, 14 July.
The blaze in the general compartment of the Hisar-Tirupati Special 04717 was noticed while shunting around 2 pm. Railway staff immediately isolated the coach and prevented the fire from spreading.
The fire brigade swung into action and doused the flames. No injury or casualty has been reported. The zonal railway division has initiated a probe into the blaze.
Incidentally, the latest incident came a day after a freight train ferrying diesel caught fire in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvalluvar, disrupting several train services.
