Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will launch the distribution of new ration cards on 14 July at Tirumalagiri in Tungaturthi constituency, Food & Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy announced on Wednesday, 2 July. Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka will also attend the launch.

Speaking at a review meeting at the Nalgonda Collectorate, Uttam Kumar Reddy directed district collectors to complete verification of all eligible applications by 13 July to ensure that no deserving family is excluded. He emphasised that the process must remain transparent and corruption-free.

The minister criticised the previous BRS government for adding only 49,000 ration cards during its tenure, leaving lakhs of families without access to food security. In contrast, the Congress government has received lakhs of new applications and is addressing them in a mission-mode, he said.

Telangana’s free fine rice scheme currently provides 6 kg of rice per person each month to about 3.1 crore beneficiaries—nearly 84 percent of the state’s population—at an annual cost of ₹13,000 crore.

For June, July, and August, the state ensured an uninterrupted supply by distributing three months’ rations in advance.

Uttam Kumar Reddy also reviewed key irrigation projects in the erstwhile Nalgonda district, urging MLAs to expedite land acquisition and forest clearances. He said efforts were underway to resume work on the long-pending Srisailam Left Bank Canal with assistance from the Indian Army’s engineering division.
