Marking five years of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, a nationwide survey by the Centre for Teacher Accreditation (CENTA) reveals that over 70 percent of Indian teachers are already integrating AI tools into classrooms, primarily for lesson planning.
The survey, involving over 5,000 educators, shows higher AI usage among teachers with over three years of experience. While 67 percent rated their AI skills above average, only 57 percent could spot a basic AI misconception, indicating a need for better training.
Concerns persist — 84 percent of respondents, including parents and students, cited issues like job displacement (34%) and AI accuracy (23%).
The findings highlight AI’s growing role and training gaps in Indian education.
