The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) conducted surprise raids at premises linked to GST Joint Commissioner Prajani Rajan in connection with a disproportionate assets case.
The VACB team seized ₹14.10 lakh in unaccounted cash and $788 during the 13-hour raid.
The searches, conducted under Project Zero, began at 7.45 am and ended at 9.15 pm on September 26.
Vigilance teams searched Prajani’s office at the GST Joint Commissionerate in Thevara, her residence in Pachalam and another property in Kochi.
During the raid, the investigators seized unaccounted cash and $788, worth Rs 75,000. The searches were led by Vigilance Special Cell SP M.J. Sojan and DYSP A.L Yesudas.
The action follows a disproportionate assets case involving Prajani. During the preliminary inquiry, the Vigilance found that Prajani had accumulated assets worth around ₹2.89 crore beyond her known sources of income between 2014 and 2024.
Prajani had been under the Vigilance Department’s scrutiny after allegations surfaced regarding irregularities in GST filings by some bars in Kochi.
The searches were conducted after a warrant was issued by the Muvattupuzha Vigilance Court. The recovered cash and documents will be submitted before the court.
