A doctor who had earlier complained of assault and robbery is now facing a rape allegation, adding a fresh twist to the case involving an actress and an actor-cum-production executive.
Infopark police registered a case against Dr Johnson K. Varghese following a complaint by a young woman, a close relative of the actress arrested in the earlier case.
She alleged that the doctor sexually assaulted her after giving her alcohol at a hotel near Infopark last month.
She also expressed suspicion that he had recorded her images.
Johnson, who worked at a leading private hospital in the city and served as the woman’s family physician, has since been dismissed from his job.
In the earlier case, the doctor had accused a group of 12 people, including the actress, of assaulting him, threatening him with a false rape allegation and stealing two mobile phones, a watch and EarPods worth lakhs of rupees.
Earlier according to the police, the actors allegedly demanded ₹6 crore from the doctor to settle the dispute and threatened to make private photographs and personal chats public.
When he arrived, around 12 people were allegedly present. The group made him sit on a chair and assaulted him, the complaint had said.
The actress, actor and production executive Bibin Perumpilly, and K.B. Vishnu were arrested in connection with the case.
The police have sent the mobile phones seized from the accused for forensic examination to retrieve chats and other communications that could provide further evidence in the case.
