A yellow alert for extreme heat has been issued across multiple districts in Kerala, with temperatures expected to rise significantly over the next three days, according to a joint update from India Meteorological Department, Kerala State Emergency Operations Centre, and Kerala State Disaster Management Authority.

The warning, issued at 1:00 PM on Saturday, 11 April, highlights that maximum temperatures are likely to touch 40°C in Palakkad, making it the hottest district during this period.

Nearby regions are also expected to experience severe heat, with 39°C forecast for Kollam and around 37°C in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Kozhikode.

Slightly lower but still above-normal temperatures of 36°C are expected in Thiruvananthapuram, Malappuram, Kannur, and Kasaragod.

Overall, temperatures across the state are predicted to be 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above seasonal averages.

Authorities have also warned that hot and humid conditions will prevail across these districts, particularly in non-hilly regions, intensifying discomfort and potential health risks.

The advisory remains in effect for 11, 12, and 13 April, 2026.
