Malayalam film actor Santosh K Nayar lost his life following a road accident on the MC Road near Enath, close to Adoor in the Pathanamthitta district, on Tuesday, 5 May.
The accident occurred between 6.15 am and 6.30 am when the car driven by Santosh collided head-on with an oncoming lorry on the Puthussery stretch.
The actor was travelling from Thiruvananthapuram to Kottayam along with his wife, who sustained serious injuries.
Eyewitnesses and local residents rushed to the scene and helped rescue the couple, who were trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
The car had to be cut open to pull them out. Santosh was immediately taken to a private hospital in Adoor, but despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.
It’s also said that he suffered a cardiac arrest while undergoing treatment.
The lorry driver, identified as Sudheesh, was also injured in the collision and is currently under medical care.
Preliminary assessments by the police suggest that the car may have lost control before crashing into the lorry, though a detailed investigation is underway to determine the exact cause.
