The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) conducted a surprise raid at Kerala Bank headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, 1 September, following allegations of irregularities in the bank’s tendering procedures.
The VACB stepped in after allegations surfaced of possible corruption and procedural violations in procuring and installing security equipment at various Kerala Bank branches.
The complaints relate to the purchase and installation of CCTV surveillance cameras and alarm systems introduced as part of efforts to strengthen security arrangements at the bank’s branches.
Vigilance officials examined records and documents related to the tendering process to determine whether prescribed procedures were followed in awarding contracts and procuring the equipment.
The inspection is understood to be part of a preliminary verification being carried out by the agency based on the complaints received.
Officials are expected to scrutinise the tender documents, related correspondence, procurement records and other relevant files to ascertain whether there were any violations or financial irregularities in the process.
Further action will be decided based on the findings of the document verification.
