The long-anticipated dream of Kerala football fans to see Lionel Messi and the World Champions play in Kochi has once again been deferred.

The Reporter Broadcast Corporation, the official sponsor of the match, confirmed on social media that the Argentine football team will not be visiting Kerala in November as earlier announced.

According to the company, discussions with the Argentine Football Association (AFA) led to an agreement to postpone the match scheduled in the November international window due to delays in obtaining FIFA approval.

The organizers, however, assured fans that the match will be held in Kerala during the next international window, with a formal announcement expected soon.

The development has left fans disheartened, as the Kochi fixture—initially announced for 17 November—had generated massive excitement across the state.

Earlier, Argentina’s match against Angola in Luanda had been officially confirmed, while the Kerala leg remained shrouded in uncertainty, prompting repeated denials from the sponsors whenever reports surfaced that the Indian tour might not happen.

This latest twist adds yet another chapter to the roller-coaster saga of Argentina’s proposed visit to Kerala — a story of soaring hopes, mixed signals, and recurring heartbreaks for football lovers who have been eagerly awaiting a chance to witness the world champions in action on home soil.
