Thrissur Collector Arjun Pandian receives Best District Collector Award

Synopsis: The recognition highlights efforts to strengthen anganwadi infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and promote inclusive development for women and children.

Thrissur District Collector Arjun Pandian was honoured with the Best District Collector Award under the 2024-25 Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, by the Women and Child Development Department, on Sunday, 1 February.

The award recognises exceptional service delivery, innovative initiatives, and effective coordination between the district administration and ICDS.

Meanwhile, adding a personal touch to the occasion, Minister Veena George also felicitated Usha Kumari, the Collector’s mother, who recently completed 26 years of service as an Anganwadi teacher.

She is currently serving as Anganwadi Teacher No. 46 in Elappara panchayat, Idukki district.

Thrissur and Wayanad jointly received the top collector award. The recognition highlights efforts to strengthen anganwadi infrastructure, enhance service delivery, and promote inclusive development for women and children.

Notably, the administration secured land for around 18 anganwadis and advanced procedures for over 50 more centres, supported by a special taluk-level cell reviewing land issues monthly with Revenue, ICDS, Local Self-Governments, and other departments.

Thrissur also won 10 awards across categories, including Best Anganwadi, Anganwadi Workers, and Helpers.

The State Best Anganwadi award went to Galaxy Anganwadi (Centre No. 46), ICDS Kodakara.
