Synopsis: Three migrant workers died on Kerala after falling into a sewage pit at a poultry waste treatment unit.
Three migrant workers died after falling into a sewage pit at a poultry waste treatment unit in Kalappara in the Vadakkamuri area, near Areekode, in the Malappuram district of Kerala, at around 11 am on Wednesday, 30 July.
The deceased have been identified as Vikas Kumar (29), Samad Ali (20), and Hitesh Saranya (46).
Two of them were Bihar residents, while one of them was from Assam.
According to police sources, the tragedy unfolded when one of the workers reportedly fell unconscious due to suspected toxic fumes while cleaning the chemical tank.
Two others who rushed to rescue him also fell into the tank. All three were rushed to Manjeri Government Medical College Hospital but could not be saved.
Their bodies are currently at the medical college hospital morgue. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
