As the victim knows no language other than Korean, the police are facing a challenge in the investigation.
A medical examination confirmed that a South Korean woman was sexually assaulted in Kerala in the days before Christmas.
The woman was apparently attempting to travel back to her native on 23 December from Kozhikode international airport without a ticket when she was detained.
The police have begun a massive hunt for those who assaulted her during her stay in the city.
After her discharge from the Government Medical College hospital in Kozhikode, she was shifted to an observation home on Monday, 26 December.
As the woman knows no language other than Korean, the police are yet to gather information from her on the assault and the perpetrators.
Though the services of an interpreter were availed, the woman apparently refused to cooperate.
The police said she would be produced before a magistrate on Tuesday morning and they would seek court permission to gather more details from her using the interpreter’s services.
As per the available information, she stayed in two hotels in Kozhikode.
On 23 December evening, she reached Kozhikode airport and wanted to proceed to her native.
As she could not show a ticket, immigration authorities handed her over to the police.
She answered questions only in Korean, and the only thing she repeated to them in English was that she lacked money.
The police said she seemed to be experiencing severe emotional distress.
