Seven more health institutions in Kerala earn National Quality Accreditation
Kerala has further strengthened its reputation in public healthcare with seven more health institutions securing the National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) accreditation. Health Minister Veena George on Monday announced that three institutions received fresh accreditation, while four renewed their certification after three years.
Among the newly accredited are Thrissur’s Engandiyoor Family Health Centre (89.85 percent), Manalur Family Health Centre (94.32 percent ), and Kollam’s Velamanoor Janakiya Health Centre (86.89 percent).
The reaccredited institutions include Thrissur’s Kodakara Family Health Centre (87.64 percent) and Mundoor Family Health Centre (96.63 percent), along with Kozhikode’s Kallunira Vadakara Urban Family Health Centre (86.37 percent) and Payyanakkal Urban Family Health Centre (84.87 percent).
With this, a total of 233 health institutions in Kerala now hold NQAS accreditation — comprising seven district hospitals, five taluk hospitals, 11 community health centres, 46 urban family health centres, and 154 family health centres.
The NQAS accreditation, valid for three years, involves a re-inspection by a national team and annual state-level reviews. Accredited institutions are also eligible for financial incentives, with FHCs and UPHCs receiving ₹2 lakh annually, community health centres ₹18,000 per package, and other hospitals ₹10,000 per bed.
