Food on Vande Bharat train

In response to growing concerns over food cleanliness on trains, particularly the Vande Bharat Express, the Railway Police have initiated surprise inspections at catering and IRCTC food stalls near major railway stations across the state.

The checks, led by Deputy Superintendents of Police from the Ernakulam and Palakkad subdivisions, focused on assessing food hygiene, water quality, and the safety of packaging. Officers from various railway police stations, including IRPs and SHOs, were also part of the inspection teams.

Railway Police Superintendent of Police stated that the move was prompted by widespread social media reports and passenger complaints. Strict instructions have been issued to food vendors, and continued surveillance and inspections have been promised.

Passengers and the public are urged to report any unhygienic food practices to the nearest Railway Police station for prompt action.

Spot checks will continue in the coming days, officials confirmed.
