Rahul Gandhi, who is seeking a successive second term from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala, has declared assets of over ₹20 crore in his nomination papers.
Gandhi filed the papers before the returning officer on Wednesday, 3 April.
He has declared movable assets to the tune of ₹9,24,59,264 and showed the purchasing price of his self-acquired immovable assets as being worth ₹7,93,03,977 in the affidavit. He has also declared that the current market value of the self-acquired immovable assets is ₹9,04,89,000 and the value of the inherited assets is ₹2,10,13,598.
Gandhi has stated that he has a liability of ₹49,79,184. He has declared ₹55,000 as cash in hand.
The incumbent Wayanad MP has declared that there are 18 cases registered against him in various states across the country. He claimed that the “politically motivated cases” were filed by the BJP/RSS and in most of the matters, “even charges have not been framed”.
The Congress leader has ₹26.25 lakh as deposits in various banks. He also has investments worth nearly ₹8 crore in bonds, debentures and shares in various companies in mutual funds. The assets also include 333.3 grams of gold.
Gandhi continues to own a share in the inherited farm in Sultanpur Village in Delhi. The affidavit also shows that Gandhi owns two office spaces in Gurugram.
Gandhi declared that his source of income was MP’s salary, Royalty income, rental income, interest from bonds, dividends and capital gain from mutual funds. He has declared the total income for 2022-23 as ₹1,02,78,680.
The Congress leader has stated his education qualification as M.Phil (Development Studies) from Trinity College, University of Cambridge, completed in 1995. The affidavit shows that he doesn’t own a car.
