Nipah containment restrictions lifted in Malappuram as no new cases emerge
The Malappuram district administration has officially lifted all Nipah virus containment restrictions, following the absence of new cases in recent days.
Earlier, several wards across Makkaparambu, Kootilangadi, Mankada, and Kuruva Grama Panchayats had been declared containment zones after the death of an 18-year-old girl suspected to have contracted Nipah. She had developed symptoms on June 23, was hospitalised on June 25, and succumbed on July 1. Her cremation was conducted the next day.
Authorities thanked the public for their cooperation and urged continued vigilance to prevent future outbreaks.
