Minor girl missing from Thiruvananthapuram spotted in a train to Kanniyakumari

The police formed a special team and are working closely with the Railway Protection Force and Tamil Nadu Police to locate the girl.

The girl who went missing from Thiruvananthapuram.

A 13-year-old girl went missing from Kazhakoottam in the Kerala capital Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, 20 August. The Assam native reportedly left home after her mother scolded her.

She is a student at Muslim High School in Kaniyapuram.

It is learnt that the girl packed her bag and left the house after her mother scolded her for quarrelling with her younger sisters.

The police said they have launched a widespread search to locate the girl. A missing case was registered and the police shared the details of the girl with the public.

Spotted in train

On Tuesday afternoon police got inputs that she was spotted travelling in a train towards Kanniyakumari.

The police said they formed a special team and are working closely with the Railway Protection Force and Tamil Nadu Police to locate the girl.

The search is mainly concentrated in and around Kanyakumari as some autorickshaw drivers were said to have informed the police that they spotted the girl.

The police assume that the girl might be heading towards Chennai from Kanniyakumari via Tirunelveli.

A video of the girl travelling in a train towards Kanniyakumari was also received by the police. According to reports, a student who was travelling on the train to Kanniyakumari spotted the child.

After realising that it was the missing child, she reported it to the police with a photograph.
