Meta has removed from India an AI-generated video showing Chief Minister VD Satheesan dancing with KSEB employees, following a police request, State Police Chief Ravada Chandrasekhar said on Tuesday, 15 September.
The video surfaced amid Keralam’s ongoing power shortage and showed a digitally altered Satheesan dancing to the Jailer 2 “Ala Bolelo” alongside KSEB employees. The clip was widely circulated on social media, including on other Instagram and Facebook accounts.
The police received nine complaints over the video, which was posted on the ‘AI Kavala’ Instagram account on Friday, 11 September.

The video has also triggered criticism on social media, with many questioning the growing trend of using AI to create videos featuring the Chief Minister and other public figures, particularly for political satire and memes.
Satheesan had earlier said the viral AI dance video had given him “a lot of personal joy”, but noted that videos created using artificial intelligence could raise certain legal issues.
Speaking about the video at a seminar on Music, Cinema and Law in Ernakulam, Satheesan expressed surprise at how realistic it looked, he raised concerns over how existing laws can regulate AI-generated content. He called for changes to the legal framework to address the challenges posed by AI, particularly in the creative and film industries.
