A man died of suicide in Kochi on Thursday, 7 August, after he jumped from the Kochi metro track between SN Junction and Vadakekkota stations near Thrippunithura.
The person has been identified as Nizar from Tirurangadi, Malappuram.
He has been declared dead, while being treated at a private hospital in Vadakekkota, as confirmed by metro officials.
According to a metro staff, the man, accessed the tracks through the Vadakekkota Metro Station and walked along them. Kochi Metro police tried to intervene but were unable to prevent him from jumping onto the main road.
Fire and rescue teams responded quickly, and traffic was cleared by the police. Metro services, which were briefly suspended, have now resumed, confirmed KMRL officials.
