Synopsis: Three-year-old Dhyan Surya from Kottayam died after accidentally falling into a water-filled bathtub at his Bahrain residence. He had arrived in Bahrain four days earlier to celebrate Onam with his mother. The child was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors could not save him.
A long-awaited reunion with his mother in Bahrain turned tragic for a toddler from Kerala’s Kottayam. Three-year-old Dhyan Surya died on August 31 after accidentally falling into a bathtub at his mother’s residence in Bahrain. The toddler had arrived in the island nation just four days ago to celebrate the Onam festival with his mother.
According to local media reports, Dhyan’s mother, Alphonsa Jose, also known as Megha, is a businesswoman who has been living in Bahrain for work. She had left the child in the care of close relatives in Kerala. Dhyan arrived in Bahrain just days ago to celebrate the Onam festival with his mother.
The accident reportedly happened when Megha was working in the kitchen. According to Onmanorama, Dhyan, who was sleeping in the bedroom, woke up and wandered into the bathroom unnoticed. He is believed to have been playing near the bathtub filled with water when he accidentally slipped and fell inside. Megha later discovered the toddler in the bathtub and immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital. However, the child could not be saved and was declared dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.
The tragedy has rocked the Malayali community in Keralam as Megha was reportedly a well-known figure and an active member of the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam. Dhyan was her only child. The Indian diaspora in Bahrain has expressed grief over the incident. Efforts are underway to bring back the mortal remains of the child to Keralam. Megha is a native of Pala in Kottayam.
