In a major employment initiative for women, Local Self-Government Minister M. B. Rajesh announced the launch of a campaign to provide one lakh wage-based jobs for women in Kerala ahead of Onam.
The campaign, jointly spearheaded by Kudumbashree and VigyanaKerala, aims to offer skill training and local job opportunities for women, with a special focus on those above 30 years of age.
The campaign was finalised during review meetings held on July 3, 4, and 5 with local body chairpersons and secretaries, attended by VigyanaKerala Chief Advisor Dr. T. M. Thomas Isaac and senior officials. Committees will be formed under local self-governments, and job fairs will be organised across all blocks, municipalities, and corporations in July and August.
Kudumbashree will establish job facilitation centers at CDS offices, renamed as Job Centers, while Knowledge Councils will be formed at the panchayat and municipal levels. The initiative integrates local economic development projects and collaborates with agencies like ASAP and KASE for training.
“This is a historic mission that will reshape the state’s employment landscape and women’s participation in the workforce,” said Minister Rajesh.
Employers and those securing jobs during Onam will be felicitated locally.
