Kozhikode RPO bags best passport office award

The Regional Passport Office (RPO) in Kozhikode has earned national recognition by securing the title of “Best Passport Office in India.”

The prestigious award was handed over during the Annual Passport Officers’ Conference hosted by the Ministry of External Affairs. The honour celebrates the office’s outstanding performance in service delivery and operational excellence.

Arunmohan K., IIS, who heads the Kozhikode RPO, accepted the award from Pabitra Margherita, the Minister of State for External Affairs. Adding to the accolades, Satheesh Kumar Kootil, serving as the Assistant Passport Officer, was named the “Best Granting Officer” at the same event.

Catering to a high volume of applicants, the Kozhikode RPO processes nearly 3,500 passport applications every day. Over the past year alone, the office has issued more than 600,000 passports and police clearance certificates.

The RPO operates a well-connected service network comprising five Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) located in Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kannur, Vatakara, and Payyanur. Additionally, two Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) function in Kalpetta and Kasaragod, enhancing outreach in the region.

In a significant step towards improving accessibility, especially for residents in remote locations, the Kozhikode RPO also launched Kerala’s first-ever Mobile Passport Van. This specially equipped vehicle allows on-site biometric data collection, bringing passport services closer to underserved communities within its jurisdiction.
