To ease long queues at metro stations, Kochi Metro has introduced UPI-based ticket vending machines across all stations. The initiative, launched at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium by Transport Commissioner C Nagaraju, aims to speed up the ticketing process and improve passenger convenience.
KMRL MD Loknath Behera said the move is part of efforts to make ticketing fully digital. Few metros in India currently use such machines.
Digital tickets are also available via platforms like Google Wallet, PhonePe, Paytm, RedBus, Yatri, EaseMyTrip, Kerala Savari, Telegram (My Metro Kochi), and even WhatsApp.
Key officials from KMRL, including Directors Sanjay Kumar, Dr MP Ram Nawaz, and senior managers, attended the event.
