Synopsis: In their moment of grief, Biljith’s family consented to donate his organs. His heart, two kidneys, liver, small intestine, pancreas, and two corneas were donated under the coordination of K-SOTTO.
The heart of 18-year-old engineering student Biljith Biju, declared braindead after a road accident, will now beat in the chest of a 13-year-old girl undergoing treatment at Lisi Hospital, Kochi.
Biljith, a first-year student at Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kalady, met with an accident on 2 September when a lorry hit his bike on the Nedumbassery Kariyad National Highway.
Despite intensive care at Angamaly Little Flower Hospital, he was declared brain dead on Friday, 12 September.
In their moment of grief, Biljith’s family consented to donate his organs. His heart, two kidneys, liver, small intestine, pancreas, and two corneas were donated under the coordination of K-SOTTO.
The kidneys went to Kozhikode Medical College and Rajagiri Hospital, Kochi, the liver, intestine, and pancreas to Amrita Hospital, Kochi, and the corneas to Little Flower Hospital, Angamaly.

Biljith is survived by his father Biju Palamattom, mother Linta, and brother Bival, a ninth-grade student.
His funeral will be held at his home in Nedumbassery on Saturday, 13 September.
