Kerala’s Arthunkal police station becomes first in India to get ISO certification

In a first for Indian policing, Arthunkal Police Station in Cherthala has received ISO certification for its Quality Management System. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) awarded the recognition after a comprehensive two-stage audit evaluating law and order enforcement, complaint handling, crime investigation, staff conduct, and public-facing amenities.

The certification was handed over by BIS Deputy Director General (Southern Region) Praveen Khanna in the presence of State Police Chief Ravada A Chandrashekar and other senior officials. This achievement is part of the Modernised Cherthala Police Programme spearheaded by ASP Harish Jain IPS to promote transparent, responsive, and tech-enabled policing.
