Kerala violence: 2 people stabbed to death, 4 injured in separate incidents

A 26-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death, and three others, including a woman, were injured in a scuffle at a home near Pala.

A 26-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death, and three others — including a woman — were injured in a scuffle that occurred during a party organised at a home near Pala in the Kottayam district in the wee hours of Sunday, police said.

In another incident, a 34-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death, and another person suffered serious injuries during a scuffle in the wee hours of Sunday in Kochi, police said.

Stabbed during party

The incident reported from the Kollappally Mankara area is said to have occurred at around 2 am, said the cops.

Friends and relatives assembled at home to celebrate the holy communion of a child. However, they engaged in a verbal spat during a drinking party, said police.

A man identified as Libin Jose died and three persons — a 55-year-old woman, her relative, and another person — were injured in the stabbing incident that saw the use of a pair of scissors.

Following the incident, Pala police reached the spot and took the accused person into custody.

The injured persons were said to have been admitted to a hospital and undergoing treatment.

Two people in custody

The second incident was reported from the Thammanam area under the Palarivattom police station limits.

Two persons were taken into custody in connection with the incident, and the culprit had been identified, said police.

Upon hearing about the incident, locals and police rushed the wounded persons to the nearby hospital.

While one person died, another was in serious condition, police said.

An investigation had been launched into the incident, they added.
