Kerala has once again reaffirmed its leadership in public education with outstanding results in the latest National Achievement Survey (NAS) conducted by the Union Ministry of Education.

Announcing the results on Wednesday, General Education Minister V Sivankutty said the state’s performance has significantly improved across all subjects and classes compared to the 2021 survey.

The 2024 NAS, which assessed students in classes 3, 6, and 9, saw participation from 46,737 students in 1,644 schools across the state.

Nationally, over 21 lakh students from 74,000 schools took part. Kerala outperformed the national average in every category. In Class 3 language, the state average rose from 70 in 2021 to 75 in 2024, while the national average stood at 64. In mathematics, it improved from 60 to 70.

Similar positive trends were observed in Classes 6 and 9 across language, mathematics, science, and social science.

Minister Sivankutty credited the achievement to sustained interventions in public education, including infrastructure development, teacher training, curriculum reforms, and inclusive learning support programmes.

“This result reflects Kerala’s continuous efforts for quality education,” he said, calling it a proud moment for the state.
