Kerala rains: Trains cancelled due to water logging between Vallathol Nagar and Wadakancherry

As the death toll rose to over 50 in the massive Wayanad landslides, the incessant monsoon rains have also disrupted train services.

Flooding on the railway tracks

As the death toll rose to over 50 in the massive Wayanad landslides, the incessant monsoon rains have also disrupted the trains between Vallathol Nagar and Wadakancherry in the Thiruvananthapuram railway division, due to heavy water logging on the tracks.

Southern Railways has cancelled four trains, and partially cancelled multiple other trains.

Meanwhile, the traffic restoration works on the track affected (KM 10/800-900) are in full swing.

Sharing the updates on X, Thiruvananthapuram division, Southern Railways wrote, “Line restoration works are in full swing and upline Thrissur-Shornur has been restored. Works of Shornur-Thrissur section is progressing.”

Here is the list of trains cancelled, partially cancelled, and rescheduled.

Cancelled trains

  1. Train No. 06445 Guruvayur – Thrissur Daily Express.
  2. Train No. 06446 Thrissur – Guruvayur Daily Express
  3. Train No. 06497 Shoranur – Thrissur Daily Express
  4. Train No. 06495 Thrissur – Shoranur Daily Express

Partial cancellations

  1. Train No. 16305 Ernakulam – Kannur Intercity Express will be short-terminated at Thrissur.
  2. Train No. 16791 Tirunelveli – Palakkad Palaruvi Expres will be short-terminated at Aluva.
  3. Train No. 16302 Thiruvananthapuram – Shoranur Venad Express will be short-terminated at Chalakkudy.
  4. Train No. 12081 Kannur – Thiruvananthapuram Central Janshatabdi Express will be short-terminated at Shoranur junction.
  5. Train No. 16308 Kannur – Alappuzha Intercity Express will be short-terminated at Shoranur.
  6. Train No. 16649 Mangaluru Central – Kanyakumari Parasuram Express will be short-terminated at Shoranur.
  7. Train No. 16326 Kottayam – Nilambur Road Express will be short-terminated at Angamali.
  8. Train No. 12075 Kozhikode – Thiruvananthapuram Central Janshatabdi Express will commence service from Ernakulam junction instead of Kozhikode.
  9. Train No. 16650 Kanyakumari – Mangaluru Central Parasuram Express will commence service from Shoranur junction.
  10. Train No. 16325 Nilambur Road – Kottayam Express will commence service from Angamali.
  11. Train No. 16301 Shoranur – Thiruvananthapuram Central Venad Express will commence service from Chalakkudy instead of Shoranur junction.
  12. Train No. 16307 Alappuzha – Kannur will commence service from Shoranur instead of Alappuzha.
  13. Train No. 16792 Palakkad – Tirunelveli Palaruvi Express will commence service from Aluva instead of Palakkad.

Rescheduled and special trains

  1. Train No. 12678 Ernakulam Junction – KSR Bengaluru Intercity Superfast Express scheduled to leave Ernakulam at 9:10 am on 30 July, has been rescheduled to leave Ernakulam junction at 12:10 pm— making it three hours late.
  2. Train No. 12617 Ernakulam Junction – Hazrat Nizamuddin Mangala Express scheduled to leave Ernakulam at 10:30 am on 30 July, has been rescheduled to leave Ernakulam junction at 12:10 pm— making it three hours late

Apart from the rescheduled trains, a special train also has been operating for the convenience of the passengers: Train No. 06305 Thrissur – Ernakulam Special train left Thrissur Railway station at 11:00 am.
