In a disturbing trend, blood donation scams are on the rise in Kerala, with fraudsters exploiting desperate families by demanding hefty sums in exchange for arranging blood donors.

Authorities have cautioned the public to stay vigilant, especially while posting blood requirements on social media, as scammers often target such appeals.

The Kerala Police’s Pol-Blood initiative, which promotes legal and voluntary blood donation, has received several complaints about these fraudulent activities.

It’s a grim reminder that paid blood donation has been banned in India since January 1998.

Officials urge those in need of blood to rely on safe, verified sources.

The Pol-Blood app, operated by Kerala Police, offers a secure platform for both donors and recipients to register and connect.

Any suspected fraud can be reported at polblood.pol@kerala.gov.in.

The police have assured swift action against those exploiting lives for profit.
