The Kerala Police on Monday, 22 June, intensified the search for a 20-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a 3.5-year-old girl at an anganwadi in Kochi.

The accused, the son of an anganwadi teacher, is absconding.

The case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act after the child’s parents reported the incident to the police and the Child Welfare Committee.

Accused frequently visited anganwadi

The parents became suspicious when the girl complained of physical discomfort and later disclosed the alleged abuse.

During the investigation, police found that the accused frequently visited the anganwadi. However, he was missing when officers arrived at his residence, prompting an extensive search operation.
