Kerala declares State mourning for Pope Francis

Thiruvananthapuram: Following directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Kerala will observe State Mourning in honour of Pope Francis, the Supreme Pontiff of the Holy See, who passed away on April 21, 2025.

A three-day mourning has been declared nationwide — on April 22 and 23, and an additional day on the Pope’s funeral, the date of which will be announced later.

The national flag will fly at half-mast on all government buildings, and no official entertainment will be held during this period. District Collectors have been directed to enforce compliance across the state.

Murder shocks Kottayam: Elderly couple found dead

Kottayam: A brutal double murder has rocked Thiruvathukkal in Kottayam district.

Vijayakumar, owner of Indraprastham Auditorium, and his wife Meera were found murdered at their residence on Tuesday morning.
Their domestic worker discovered their blood-soaked bodies near the Eruthikkal Temple and immediately informed the police.

Authorities suspect homicide and have launched a full-scale investigation into the motive and circumstances behind the gruesome killings.

Kerala woman sexually abuse boy, husband records video

Tirur: In a disturbing case from Malappuram, 30-year-old woman, Sathyabhama, from Palakkad was arrested for the sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy. Her husband, Sabik, who allegedly recorded the incident and threatened the survivor using the video, is currently absconding.

Both are reported to be drug addicts and allegedly attempted to give drugs to the minor. A POCSO case has been registered, and a search is on for Sabik.
