Waqf and Hajj Minister V Abdurahiman has urged the Union Minister for Minorities Kiren Rijiju to extend the deadline for Hajj 2026 applications, citing logistical and technical issues faced by applicants. The current last date for online submission is 31 July 2025.
In his letter, the minister highlighted that many applicants are still awaiting newly issued passports, while others have been unable to complete their applications due to technical issues with the online system.
He pointed out that the window provided this year is unusually short and requested a 20-day extension, similar to previous years, to ensure wider participation.
So far, 11,845 applications have been received via the State Hajj Committee. Of these, 2,252 belong to applicants aged 65 and above. 1,519 are in the Ladies without Mehram (male companion) category, and 8,074 fall under the General category.
The minister expressed confidence that an extended deadline would enable more eligible individuals to complete their applications.
