Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday announced that a joint study will be conducted with the Madhya Pradesh government to resolve the long-pending title issue of Beenachi Estate in Sultan Bathery taluk, Wayanad.
Addressing a regional review meeting in Kannur, the Chief Minister said the study, to be led by the Revenue Department Secretary, aims to settle the matter swiftly.
Since 1955, around 160 farmer families have been residing on 64.95 hectares of the 224.31-hectare Beenachi Estate, which is officially owned by the Provident Investment Company, a Madhya Pradesh Government undertaking.
The state government has decided to acquire the land and issue title deeds to the farmers.

The zonal meeting conducted at Krishna Menon Memorial GovernmentWomen’s College Auditorium, Kannur discussed issues of Kannur, Kasaragod, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
