Kerala Election Commission on Tuesday, 2 September, published the final electoral roll for the upcoming local body elections in Kerala, listing 2,83,12,463 voters across the state.
The revised roll was prepared based on polling stations in the newly re-divided wards of local bodies.
Of the total voters, 1,33,52,945 are men, 1,49,59,242 are women, and 276 are transgenders persons.
The roll also includes 2,087 non-resident voters.
The updated list covers 17,337 wards in 941 gram panchayats, 3,240 wards in 87 municipalities, and 421 wards in six corporations spread across Kerala’s 14 districts.
Eligible voters are those who turned 18 on or before 1 January 2025.
The final electoral roll is available for public on the Commission’s website (sec.kerala.gov.in) and at respective local bodies, taluk offices, and village offices.
SEC stated that the preparation of the final list followed a meticulous process.
Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) examined applications and objections submitted until 12 August, conducted hearings, and made corrections where ever necessary.
The draft list, published on 23 July as part of the summary revision, had recorded 2,66,78,256 voters.
The Commission received 29,81,310 new applications for inclusion, 13,859 correction requests, and 1,80,789 applications for ward/polling station changes.
In addition, 4,88,024 objections were raised for deletion of names.
Compared with the 2020 local body elections, when there were 2,76,56,910 voters (including 2,162 non-resident voters), the state has added 6,55,553 voters to its rolls this year.
With the final voters’ list now in place, the SEC has crossed a key milestone in the run-up to the crucial local body polls, which are expected to set the political mood ahead of the next #Assembly elections.
