The Ernakulam District Consumer Court in Kerala ordered Alappuzha-based saree shop IHA Designs to pay ₹36,500 to a customer after a saree worth ₹16,500 faded on the first day of use during an engagement ceremony.
The court termed the shop’s inaction as a service deficiency and unethical business practice. The amount includes a refund and ₹20,000 as compensation and litigation costs.
The complaint was filed under Section 35 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. Advocate Alvin Jewel SS represented the complainant, Joseph Niclavose from Koovappady near Perumbavoor.
