Home voting for the Kerala Legislative Assembly elections 2026, scheduled on 9 April, has commenced, on Monday, 30 March, marking a key step to ensure inclusive participation for absentee voters across the state.

The facility is being extended to Absentee Voters in the category of senior citizens above 85 years (AVSC) and Persons with Disabilities (AVPD).

According to official figures, there are 1,45,592 AVSC voters and 62,220 AVPD voters eligible for home voting this time.

To facilitate the process, 2,468 dedicated teams have been deployed state wide.

District-wise data shows that Thiruvananthapuram has the highest number of senior citizen absentee voters at 14,672, while Wayanad district has the lowest at 3,036. Among persons with disabilities, Kozhikode tops the list with 6,788 voters, whereas Wayanad again records the lowest at 1,403.

Ahead of the rollout, Chief Electoral Officer-Kerala Ratan U Kelkar reviewed preparedness through an online meeting with district collectors.

He noted that all districts had conducted consultations with political parties and completed arrangements in line with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.

Officials expressed confidence that the home voting process will be conducted smoothly, ensuring that elderly and differently-abled voters can exercise their franchise without difficulty.
