IT parks in Kerala are evolving into women-friendly workplaces, Women and Child Development Minister Veena George said on Wednesday.

Mission-based initiatives are being implemented under the Women and Child Development (WCD) and IT departments, focusing on the formation and strengthening of Internal Committees (ICs) to prevent workplace harassment, said the minister.

She was speaking after inaugurating a training session at Chaitram Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram for chairpersons and members of ICs functioning in various offices of Thiruvananthapuram Technopark.

The minister highlighted that ICs have already been formed in all government departments by 8 March, 2025, and a monitoring portal was launched in 2023 to track their activities. Similar training initiatives are also being extended to the film sector, she added.

The minister noted the growing participation of women in IT and stressed the responsibility of institutions and employers to ensure effective ICs.

She also lauded the IT sector’s support for the Health Department’s “Health and Happiness Campaign for Cancer Prevention.”

Around 100 participants attended the training, which was presided over by WCD Director Haritha V Kumar.

Nirbhaya Cell State Coordinator Srila Menon led the sessions, while Additional Director Bindu Gopinath delivered the welcome address.
