Amidst complaints of undeclared load-shedding in many parts of Kerala, a group of persons allegedly vandalised a local office of the Electricity Board, citing power failure in their locality in Kozhikode, police said on Saturday, 4 May.

Employees of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) office at Pantheeramkav in Kozhikode complained to the police on Saturday that a group of persons attacked and vandalised their office late at night on Friday, 3 May.

Pantheeramkavu police said they have launched an investigation.

“We went to the incident site and collected details. We are trying to collect CCTV visuals of the incident,” a police officer said.

Action would be taken based on the evidence collected. No case has been registered as of now, he said.

Power consumption has spiralled in Kerala, reeling under the scorching sun.

Enraged over the unexpected power failures, especially during night hours, local people staged protests in front of KSEB offices in many parts of the state in recent days.

Following protests, the state government said technical issues arising due to increased consumption were causing power cuts.

The authorities urged consumers to exercise self-control while consuming electricity.
