The Kattappana police in Kerala’s Idukki district are probing a black magic angle into the alleged murder and subsequent burying of a man and a neonatal.

Though the police keep tight-lipped on the development and whereabouts of the deceased, as per reports, it was the theft case that shed clues on the alleged gruesome incident.

The police had arrested two theft case accused Vishnu Vijayan (27) and Puthenpurackal Niteesh (31) on Thursday, 7 March.

According to Kattapana Police, only some preliminary information was received and it will have to be verified. They also added that within two days a clearer picture might emerge.

Reports say that Niteesh, a priest, advised Vishnu to commit the alleged crime. It is suspected that the duo had murdered and buried Vishnu’s father Vijayan and the newborn of his sister. Vijayan has been missing for over a year.

The police also found Vishnu’s mother and sister locked up in his house, reported media. They have been shifted to a shelter home.

The police are investigating the house which was rented by one of the accused to find signs of black magic rituals. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the police have indeed found signs of rituals.

In 2022, two women were abducted, killed, and dismembered in the Elanthoor village of Pathanamthitta district. The incident which shook the nation later revealed that a black magic ritual was performed and the gruesome murders were committed for economic prosperity.
