Vellappally Natesan
Synopsis: The court ordered the disqualification after finding violations of the Companies Act. The order was issued in response to a complaint filed by MK Sanu and others, who raised several issues, including the microfinance fraud case. The matter had been pending before the High Court since 2024.
A Single Bench of the Kerala High Court has disqualified Vellappally Natesan, the General Secretary of the influential Sree Nararayana Dharma Paripalana (SND) Yogan and other members of the organisation’s Board of Directors.
Justice TR Ravi issued the disqualification order after finding violations of the Companies Act. Besides Natesan, Yogam President MN Soman and Vice-President Thushar Vellappally were among those disqualified.
The court also ordered the constitution of a new Board.
The judge observed that the SNDP Yogam functions as an organisation registered under the Companies Act, making it mandatory for its directors to possess valid Director Identification Numbers (DINs).
However, the court found that the DIN accounts of Natesan, Thushar Vellappally and other members were invalid, leading to their disqualification.
The order came on a complaint filed by MK Sanu and others, who raised several issues, including the microfinance fraud case. The matter had been pending before the High Court since 2024.
Founded in 1903, the Yogam was originally envisaged to uphold the principles of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru, and to challenge the caste system by promoting Hindu unity. Narayana Guru was its founding president.
