A fun challenge turned into a crowd-puller at a fitness run in Thrissur on Sunday, 29 June.
Twelve year-old Salman from St Mary’s Lourdes School dared District collector Arjun Pandian to a 12-km race from Palappilly via Chimmini Road, asking, “If I beat you, will you give students a holiday?”
With over a hundred participants, Salman sprinted ahead, leaving the Collector trailing.
After the race, Pandian praised Salman’s speed and spirit, joking that the next rain-related holiday in the district would be dedicated to him.
Salman, son of Sharafudheen and Sabita from Kalathode, trains under PE teacher Joby Michael.
The event was organised by the Endurance Athletes of Thrissur to promote fitness.
