At the age of six, Yaseen Shan Muhammed would set out early in the morning, carrying bottles of milk to nearby houses in his village, Ambadikkunnu, Palakkad.
Today, he is on the brink of donning the robes of a magistrate, having secured the second rank in the prestigious Kerala Judicial Service Exam conducted by the Kerala High Court.
Yaseen’s story is not just one of success but of grit, perseverance, and turning life’s adversities into stepping stones to greatness.
Life dealt its first blow when Yaseen was just three years old. His father severed ties with the family, leaving his 18-year-old mother to fend for herself and her two children.
With no steady income, the family bought two cows and began selling milk to survive. Yaseen joined this effort at the tender age of six, becoming a milk supplier in his village.

Recollecting his journey in an old social media post, Yaseen wrote, “It was surprising to many that someone who was a below-average student, who failed repeatedly in Maths, English, and Hindi, and even had to stop studying after failing Plus Two, could study so long and come this far. When I look back, I see a six-year-old rolling around inside. The journey hasn’t been easy.”
From six to sixteen, Yaseen juggled multiple roles to support his family—milk supplier, newspaper boy, caterer, stonemason, plasterer, painter, tutor, and food delivery agent. These struggles shaped his determination and drive to achieve more.
After failing Plus Two, Yaseen took a break from academics but refused to give up on his dreams. He later completed his LLB from Ernakulam Government Law College in 2023 and enrolled as an advocate.
He began practicing under Palakkad-based Advocate PT Shahul Hameed, who mentored him through his initial years in the legal field.
In the words of Shahul Hameed, which he shared in a social media post, “Yasin’s dedication to becoming an exceptional lawyer has always been evident, especially in his meticulous case management. His wide-ranging knowledge and sharp analytical skills set him apart.”

He then shared an anecdote. “Just the other day, during an appeal at the Ottapalam Sub-Court, he stood by my side like a steadfast shadow, offering timely and intelligent interventions—a true embodiment of what every junior should aspire to be.”
Shahul further added, “From securing the 52nd rank in his first attempt to soaring to the 2nd in the next, Yasin’s journey is nothing short of extraordinary. As a senior, he remains a source of immense pride for our office and for me personally. There is no doubt that he will carry out the mission entrusted to him by destiny with grace, fairness, and unwavering dedication.”
“Yasin, you have risen like a phoenix, defying all odds and setting an inspiring example for others. May your journey continue to ascend toward the infinite glory of the judiciary. You are, and will always be, an unparalleled asset—a symbol of excellence and perseverance. The highest pedestal awaits you, and I couldn’t be prouder,” he said.

For Yaseen, this achievement is not just a personal milestone but a tribute to his mother’s sacrifices and the countless struggles that shaped his life. His journey stands as an inspiring testament to resilience, proving that no dream is too big when matched with hard work and determination.
From a young milk supplier to a future magistrate, Yaseen Shan Muhammed’s life is a beacon of hope for all who dare to dream against the odds.
His optimism to life is evident in a post shared when the results were announced.

He had quoted an excerpt from a work of Changampuzha Krishna Pillai, a celebrated Malayalam poet from Kerala, which can be translated as “I will live and give to life everything that life hesitates to give…” the lines signifying a deeply optimistic and proactive philosophy of life.
