Mihir’s mother Rajna revealed shocking details about the events leading up to her son’s tragic death.

The family of Mihir Ahamed, a 9th-class student who died by suicide after jumping from a flat in Thrippunithura near Kochi, has filed a complaint with the Kerala Director General of Police (DGP), sources said on Thursday, 30 January.

Mihir’s mother alleged that he was subjected to severe physical and mental harassment at school. The family also claimed that he was a victim of brutal ragging by some students.

The incident occurred on 15 January at Choice Paradise Tower in Thrippunithura. Mihir, the son of Salim and Rajna, fell from the 26th floor of the flat and died instantly. He was a student at Thiruvaniyoor Global Public School.

The family became aware of Mihir’s traumatic experiences through social media chats received from his friends after his death. They have filed a complaint against Global Public School, alleging that Mihir was subjected to inhumane punishments even for minor mistakes.

The Thrippunithura Hill Palace Police registered an FIR under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) on 15 January based on a complaint filed by Robin Jose and Jose Mathew, the owners of Choice Paradise Tower.

Mihir’s mother has also approached the Child Welfare Commission seeking an inquiry into allegations that he was harassed by the vice principal of his former school, GEMS Kochi.

While the police investigation is ongoing, she fears that delays in securing digital evidence could give the culprits time to erase crucial proof.

Relentless bullying and abuse

Mihir’s mother Rajna revealed shocking details about the events leading up to her son’s tragic death. She told South First that he had joined Global Public School Thiruvaniyoor just three months ago. After his death, they spoke to some of his friends and classmates, uncovering disturbing conversations from their social media accounts.

Mihir had been subjected to brutal bullying both in school and on the school bus. His classmates frequently mocked him over his skin colour, pushing him into deep distress.

One particularly alarming chat revealed that Mihir was forced to vape and even lick a toilet at school. In a note, she said that they flushed the toilet while holding his head down in the bowl.

Despite the gravity of his suffering, his classmates treated the issue lightly, with some even celebrating his death on social media.

“They behaved like criminals,” his mother said, emphasising that Mihir endured severe mental torture on the very day he took his own life.

Meanwhile, the police have initiated an in-depth investigation into Mihir’s suicide, with Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) leading the probe. The inquiry will involve a detailed examination of Mihir’s family background, academic environment etc.

Statements will be recorded from the authorities of Global Public School, Mihir’s classmates, teachers, and family members to understand the circumstances leading to the incident. Police will also review CCTV footage, phone records, and social media activity to gather additional insights.

‘Justice for Mihir’ deleted?

Mihir’s parents reported these incidents to the school authorities, expecting action. However, they claim that the management was more concerned about protecting the institution’s reputation than addressing the issue.

Frustrated by the lack of response, they decided to file a formal complaint with the DGP.

In the wake of Mihir’s death, some of his classmates created a social media page titled “Justice for Mihir”. However, according to his parents, the school administration forced them to delete the page, further attempting to suppress the matter.

Mihir’s parents are now demanding justice, calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances that led to their son’s death and the alleged negligence of the school.
