A 64-year-old man was killed in a wild elephant attack on Tuesday morning in Mathamba, Peruvanthanam, Idukki.
Purushothaman, a rubber tapper from Thampalakkad, Kanjirappally, was working alongside his son when the elephant charged. While attempting to flee, he was caught and trampled.

Though locals managed to chase the elephant back into the forest, Purushothaman succumbed to his injuries at the Mundakayam hospital.
