In a pioneering step to make healthcare education more accessible, Dr Moopen’s Medical College in Wayanad has launched the Dr Moopen’s Legacy Scholarship and Fellowships Programme, offering full tuition waivers to 25 students annually across MBBS, BSc Nursing, and BPharm courses.
The college authorities said this marks Kerala’s first private medical college initiative to provide 100 percent fee waivers for eligible MBBS students. Five MBBS aspirants will be selected purely on merit, while 10 BSc Nursing and 10 BPharm students will be chosen based on merit and financial need.
Funded by Dr Moopen’s Education and Research Foundation with an annual commitment of ₹3 crore, the programme will benefit 125 students over five years. Founder Dr Azad Moopen emphasised the initiative’s goal to empower deserving students and build a compassionate healthcare workforce.
Applications will open on 28 July at www.dmscholarship.in.
