Praveen Nath, Rishana Ayshu.

Rishana Ayshu, wife of transman Praveen Nath who died by suicide, allegedly tried to kill herself by consuming a poisonous substance on Friday, 5 May.

She is currently undergoing treatment at the Thrissur Medical College in Kerala.

Nath, who was the first transgender bodybuilder in Kerala, ended his life by allegedly consuming poison at his residence in the suburbs of Thrissur on Thursday afternoon, police said.

Rishana was a winner of the Miss Malabar beauty contest.

After the death of Nath, Rishana appeared on a live video saying that nobody would see her alive after that.

Their marriage was on Valentine’s Day this year.

Worried over news reports

Nath was said to be worried over certain online media reports about their allegedly strained relationship.

However, Nath had denied the reports and was said to be upset due to the reports.

Hailing from Nenmara in the Palakkad district, Nath was the first person to be awarded the Mister Kerala in the transgender category.

The media reports regarding the separation of the trans couple came after Nath put a Facebook post after an emotional breakdown.

Nath was subjected to cyberbullying following the reports.

Nath’s message

“There is a lot of online news that my wife and I have separated. We are not separated. We live together. I made a post like that and it was deleted within an hour (I had to write like that in some special case… it’s totally personal).” Nath wrote on Facebook on Tuesday following the news report.

Meanwhile, many people have taken to social media to criticise the people who cyberbullied the couple claiming that it led to the death of Nath.

“For the last three to four days the media was preying on this person even after he asked them to leave him alone. The habit to peep into the personal lives of others has led to his death,” wrote a Facebook user.
