Kerala Education Minister V Sivankutty

The debate over changes in school timings concluded with a consensus following discussions between the Kerala government and religious organizations. Education Minister V Sivankutty announced that there will be no changes for the current academic year, and the existing schedule will remain in place. He stated that any concerns raised will be reviewed next year.

Meanwhile, Samastha expressed satisfaction with the talks. Umar Faizi Mukkam, representing the organization, claimed the minister assured them that necessary adjustments would be considered in the next academic year. He also confirmed there would be no alterations to madrasa timings.

However, Minister Sivankutty clarified that no firm assurances had been given regarding future changes. He emphasized that while discussions were held and all parties, including Samastha, were informed, any decision for the upcoming year will depend on the feedback and evaluation at that time.

The issue had sparked concern among certain religious groups over possible disruptions to madrasa schedules. The government’s move to maintain the status quo appears to have temporarily eased tensions, while leaving the door open for further review next year.
