Chavakkad: 37 year-old dies after seventh delivery in 11 years, husband conducted birth at home

Synopsis: According to relatives, Muhsina’s condition worsened significantly after the delivery but she was not taken to a hospital. They also allege she was prevented from contacting her family. The newborn baby girl died within three days, reportedly due to the absence of proper medical care.
A 37 year-old woman from Chavakkad has died nearly two months after delivering her baby at home without medical supervision in a case that has raised serious concerns.
The woman, Muhsina, had reportedly undergone seven deliveries in just 11 years, a detail family members highlight as deeply alarming.
Her most recent childbirth took place at home in early January and was allegedly conducted by her husband Ibrahim, an acupuncturist using an acupuncture-based method.
According to relatives, Muhsina’s condition worsened significantly after the delivery but she was not taken to a hospital. They also allege she was prevented from contacting her family. The newborn baby girl died within three days, reportedly due to the absence of proper medical care.
Family members further claim Muhsina had been subjected to prolonged domestic abuse and isolation since her marriage and her husband had cut off her ties with her family early on. But Five days before her death, Muhsina managed to contact her family.
When her father and sister reached her home, she was found in a critical state and bleeding heavily. Relatives allege that Ibrahim initially resisted efforts to hospitalise her but they eventually managed to move her to a private hospital before she was shifted to Thrissur MCH where she died on Thursday, 19 March morning.
Chavakkad Police told South First that, they have registered a case of unnatural under section 194 of BNSS.
The family also noted that two of Muhsina’s previous children had died shortly after birth, raising further concerns about her repeated pregnancies and lack of medical care.
