The possible names

The saffron party’s central leadership reportedly views it as a single term, which increases the likelihood of his continuation, especially with the upcoming local body and assembly elections.

Meanwhile, the election notification for the post was issued on Saturday by state returning officer K Narayanan Namboothiri. Nomination papers will be accepted at the party’s state headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram between 2 pm and 3 pm on Sunday, followed by scrutiny at 4 pm.

If an election becomes necessary, voting will take place on Monday morning, with results expected at 11 am during the functions at the Uday Palace Convention Centre.

Reports suggest that apart from Surendran, other contenders for the post include state general secretary MT Ramesh, former Union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, and current state vice-president Sobha Surendran.

According to reports, former state president and former Union minister V Muraleedharan might also be considered.
